Mid-Term Exam

Project Scenario:

Web page résumé's are becoming more and more common for people pursuing technological fields. It allows you to create a multi-dimensional piece rather than the limited scope of one sheet of paper. With an Internet resume' you can add video, pictures, links, sounds, and more. You are a trained, technologically adept individual who wants to stand out from the crowd… make a web page resume' that shows it!

Object:

You must develop an 8-page HTML (Internet web page) resume about your technical experience. It should meet the specifications of the web pages done for class.

Specifiations

  • The site must contain at least 8 pages (see below).
  • The site must be easy to navigate using links.
  • The site must include all of your work so far this year with descriptions(see below).
  • The site must include graphics, text, and flash.
  • Your site must include descriptions of each project- what you learned, and how it might help you in life.
  • The site must have a professional appearance

Your site should include the following:

  1. Index Page (1)- This page includes information about you in a resume format. It should also provide links to the other pages on your site.
  2. Project/Journal pages(5)- You should have 1 page for each software package used in class (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acid, Dreamweaver, Flash). In addition, you should have a copy of your final image or media on the page for each project with a short (2-3 sentences) explanation of each project and what you learned by participating in the project. How will the project experience benefit you in your career or in life? What did you Like/Dislike about the project? What did you learn about that project? What did you learn about yourself by comleting the project?
  3. Design Process (1)- Discuss the problem solving process, how it has helped you succeed in this class, and how it will help you succeed in your future. (There is a link to the Design Process on the resources page). DO NOT copy the design process from the class website! You can use the image of the design loop, but you must explain the process and how you used it in your own words.
  4. Summary Page(1)- This page should summarize how your "work experience" has prepared you for the workplace. What have you learned in Tech Studies I that will make you successful in your career? In Life? This entry should be 3 paragraphs.

You must complete this project using Dreamweaver . You are free to use any other tools on the Internet or at home if you wish to make your page stand out. Keep in mind that a resume that looks nice but does not adequately describe your skills will not do much in your job search. First work on your text, then go back and make it look nice.

Grading: This project will be graded using the standard Rubric used all year. You will not need to write a report, but will need to have all of the items mentioned in the rubric. Be sure to keep all your developmental work. This project must be completed by the day of your scheduled Mid-term exam in Tech Ed.

WEB PAGE TIPS!

  1. Create a folder specifically for your web site called "Mid-Term" and place EVERY item for your web pages in that folder, including graphics and other pages.
  2. Get the information done first, then make the pages look nice. Data is more of the grade than the page layout. If you have all of the information, you can get the rest of the site done (images and links) in about an hour or two.
  3. Complete all your pages before you start making links. It is easier to link to a page that is already there than one that isn't created yet.
  4. Links can be copied and pasted. If you have a list of links on one page, you can copy them to another page in the same site and they'll still work!
